since my 360s are on the fritz, i've been indulging in some pc gaming on my woefully underspec rig. been playing a bit of hl2 again along with some cs: source. it's been a while and from my cs performance, i can tell that so much time spent with a gamepad has taken it's toll - i'm nothing like as fast as i used to be. other than that, i've been having another stab at metroid fusion. first time through i got pretty near the end, but i left it for too long and forgot where i was. hopefully i'll make it this time!

Wow, I nearly forgot about this thread! hehe

I am currently playing.. well.. more like juggling between:

PC:
Resident Evil 5
UT3

PS3:
Batman: Arkham Asylum (Challenges)
The Bourne Conspiracy
Street Fighter IV
Valkyria Chronicles

PSP:
Lumines II
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

I only play like 15-30 mins of 2-3 games a day (averaging around 1 hour to 1½ hours a day). I should try to focus on just one game for a while but my attention span is so limited these days.

I love the GBA Metroids, though not on the GBA.  I played through both of them again recently.  I've finished Shadow Complex with 100% items on Easy, Normal and Hardcore.  Dare I go Insane?  It's really an easy game once you know what to do.  Once you get the helmet near the end, dying at all would be a real screwup.

I played through Darksiders about a week ago, had a lot of fun with it, towards the end I had found most of the collectibles so I used a guide to find the rest of them.

And then just the other night I sat down, started and finished Singularity in one sitting. It was fun, pretty standard FPS stuff, the time manipulation device is fun to play around with. Though i think the game was geared more to be played on a console, I played it on normal difficulty and just felt it was way too easy. The assault rifle just felt over powered, you don't even need to use your other abilities really. Anyhow it's probably more worth looking into at a lower price point.

I picked up two Nyko Perfect Shots on clearance at K-mart and grabbed House of the Dead:  Overkill.

Zombies were shot, fun was had.

Sorry I haven't responded to your text.  Been very busy this past week.

I want to track down a copy of House of the Dead 2 & 3 Returns. Gamestop has a new copy here, but I don't want to pay 30 bones for it.

Played through Limbo and Deathspank over the last week. Now I just decided to dig into Fallout 3 finally - working on the Wasteland Survival Guide and just did Grayditch.

Also, getting bored of WoW again and only logging in for raids and 10 arena games per week.

I picked up a copy of Ghost Squad for the Wii yesterday to give my gun shells something to shoot at besides zombies.  Game is great, but very short.  There are only three 15 minute levels.  Course they all branch in different directions depending on what options you choose.  I'm not going to complain for 20 bucks, as it's a pretty faithful representation of the arcade game with some extras thrown in.

The bad part about it is that these light gun games are inherently flawed on the Wii.  The IR remote is a poor substitute for the light gun technology of the arcades (and duck hunt circa, you know, 1985).  Even with calibration, the remote is always going to be more accurate near the center of the screen than the edges because of the way the Wii controls triangulate.  They're still a fun romp with friends, but they're never going to be as accurate as their arcade counterparts.  And that sucks.

I'm still making my way through Dragon Quest IX.  It is a wonderful game.  If you enjoyed RPG's from the 16 bit era you will fall in love with the game.

The old light-gun games need a CRT to work.  When the gun tells the system "I see the raster beam", the system knows where the gun's pointing based on the precise time, because the display hardware is synched to the TV.  This can't work with modern TVs where the pixels are all lit constantly.  I don't know if there's any easy (i.e., cheap enough) way to get the old high precision with modern hardware.

Getting the old light-guns to work on modern TVs would be difficult, if at all possible it may be inaccurate. The only ones I've seen work are on the Wii since it's a completely different technology.

I'm curious, I'll try to test out some methods with my Sega Saturn since I have the light-guns.

Over the passed couple weeks I've been playing the Dawn of War 2 expansion Chaos Rising and I managed to finish it off tonight. If you have played through the Dawn of War 2 campaign, you will know what to expect, but it deals with Chaos instead of Tyranids. Its got a whole new system in place for items and such for the Chaos theme pack and its pretty damn awesome. I'm already pretty excited for the Ork expansion.

I just beat Enslaved. Figured I'd knock it out pretty quick before I delve into too many games at once. Its an enjoyable game, I had a good time. Only complaints would be UE3 texture loading issues and sometimes the platforming wasn't as smooth as it could be.

I tried the Eschalon: Book I - DEMO, since the series is on sale on D2D and PC IGN. This feels like I just got plopped back into 1990's era of PC RPG gaming...in a good way.

Stat-heavy; option-heavy; psuedo-TB combat system; no voice-acting; lots of text flying to tell you vivid details on everything (objects, environment, combat damage, etc); old-school style of graphics; etc.

Agreed 100%.

I really wish some of the more modern RPG's had some of the descriptiveness this game has, when interacting w/ objects and entering areas and stuff.

Recently finished Bulletstorm. Really fun game, it takes a little bit for it to get going but once it starts ramping up, it gets epic fast. Plus the dialogue stuff isn't really stupid as you think it is and ends up being quite funny at times, especially the main antagonist. Really hope another one gets made.

After that I started play Crysis 2. Looks amazing with with DX11 features turned on. Also this game feels much more streamlined and tighter than the first, even the environments aren't as confined as you think they might be even though it's in an urban setting. I even feel it makes better use of space than the first one does with more vertical and subterranean approaches. So far I'm really digging this.

Bulletstorm's awesome - I agree w/ you 100%.
Once you get the leash and connected to the Skill system, the game gets awesome.
Definitely looking forward to a Bulletstorm 2.

I've been playing Crysis 2. It got me back into things after I bought a new PC.

Yea the game looks good and it is quite good as well. The music from Hans Zimmer is fantastic:

Just started playing White Knight Chronicles II, which I discovered actually contains a complete and remastered version of the first game! Great value for money and I was lucky enough to grab it for about $20!

So far it has its ups and downs. Very Japanese, and by that I mean the English dub also feels like a crap Japanime English dub.

I liked it. Same sort of complaints I had about the first, mostly me wanting more exploring and less mass slaughter. I played on the very easy difficulty and still killed over 600 dudes. How many people does that bad guy employ? Its funny because the game itself even references this.

I would recommend it to anyone, though. If you own a PS3 then you should play Uncharted.

I am reflecting on it now, and while I loved Uncharted 2 more overall, I thought the combat in UC1 was done better. I liked the scarcity of the weapons in the first game, etc.

Uncharted was one of those games that got me by surprise. I picked it up just to have some variety on my PS3, it looked like a generic adventure game, nothing special. I was so impressed when I loaded it up and started playing, not just by the visuals but by the gameplay, the emerging plot, the sound, everything! That game won me over despite the frequent need to aim with an analogue stick :P

Based on my experience with the first game, I had no doubt that Naughty Dog would deliver with the second but I never expected it to be quite as grand!
