New patch up
« on: Tuesday, October 14, 2008, 11:01:11 AM »
I don't play anymore yet I still read the patch notes to see how its changed. I'm just going to copy the ones I find interesting. You can read all the changes here.
---
The Barber Shop has been implemented and you can now visit one of the Barber Shops in the major cities to change your appearance.
The all new Achievement System has been implemented and the Achievement panel can be accessed via the interface.
Stormwind Harbor is now open for business.
Spell casting and spell channeling pushback has been changed to the following:
o When casting a spell:
+ The first and second hit will add .5 secs each to the cast time.
+ All hits after the second will have no effect.
o When channeling a spell:
+ The first and second hit reduces current duration by 25% of total duration each.
+ All hits after the second will have no effect.

New Vanity Pet and Mount changes: Players will now be able to access their non-combat pets and mounts by clicking on the pets tab in the Character Info panel. These pets and mounts will be now learnable much like spells or abilities. Once a vanity pet or mount is learned, the icon will disappear from within a player's inventory andreappear in the appropriate tab under the pet tab under Character Info. Say goodbye to your vanity pets and mounts taking up bag and bank slots!

It almost makes me want to play again, just a little bit.  Mostly just to see it again.  I miss the environments themselves.

Retribution paladins rape face now.

I leveled one to 60 in about a day and a half /played time by recruiting a friend and us leveling together. We were rerolling on a new server, and I needed a level 55+ so I can reroll death knight with the expansion. We were running around Hellfire today destroying people. You never run out of mana, and you do insane amounts of passive healing. Oh yea, and you do amazing damage too.

Holy magnificent christ protection warriors are now fucking GODS. I do more damage now in defensive stance than I do in battle stance. With shield slam having a higher crit chance and the new damage dealt using revenge is insane! And I can now use my charge ability in ANY STANCE and IN COMBAT, thats huge. I feel like Im cheating Im whopping on so much ass. My defense rating took a hit, but my health is now 14k unbuffed, woot! My tanking abilities are now much more useful, challenging shout has a cooldown of 3 minutes, thunderclap now hits ALL targets around me instead of just 4, I get a new ability that hits multiple targets stunning them AND I can now buff someone which reduces their threat and damage taken. Damn I love these new changes.

Ive checked out the new harbor in Stormwind. Its freakin big, I thought it was going to be much smaller but its a whole new section that rivals Theramore's harbor in size. Now you can take a boat straight from Stormwind to Auberdine in Darkshore, making Darnassus and the Exodar much easier to get to.

I also checked out the barbershop and made some changes to my dwarfs hair and the like, there is some all new hairstyles to check out and the vendor mentioned that you can get tattoos which I think may come available later when the expansion hits.

Theres a new Wrath of the Lich King login screen that now displays including a new theme song which sounds rad, also the loading screens themselves have changed to a look a little more high res.

Oh yea, I need to go check out Dalaran now, supposedly its now a floating island leaving behind a crater in the ground.

Server I'm on was a mess last night.  I was able to log on once.  Couldn't get anything done.

Gonna try again tonight... hoping to get my Blizzcon mount tonight. :)

Last night my ret pally was 63 adn got jumped by a level 70 rogue. I killed him, then decided to armory him.

1600 ap
30% crit
300 resilience
10,000 hp

Ret is broke, or this guy was horrible. It didn't even feel like a hard fight. He stunned, I broke it with hand of freedom, then just wailed on him. I did have to heal a couple times, but he didn't break my repentance or my stun, so he probably didn't have his pvp trinket on. (or was too dumb to use it)

So far here are my brags:

season 2 rogue when I was 63
season 2 warlock when I was 66
2 64 druids (one feral one boomkin) when I was 66
66 prot warrior when I was 64

The only one of those fights I started was the one with the lock.

Of course they'll be nerfed eventually. They've already gotten a couple minor ones, and more coming by the time WotLK hits. As much fun as it is to own so much, I'm still making a gnome death knight as my main. I just need to level up this pally so I can do dailies and buy stuff to save for the DK.

for my druid, pve has definitely seen an upgrade. Wild Growth just owns so hardcore and with multiple trees in a raids its totally imba

pvp is a different story. with 400 resilience, it usually took a lot of dps to bring me down in bear form. i am dying a LOT faster now =\
Suck it, Pugnate.

Yea, it's not really that ret paladins are THAT overpowered. It's that all the classes have their 51 point talents and are doing a lot more damage now. At 80 those talents will be accompanied by more armor, more hp, more resilience, which will make the dmg everyone is doing seem less effective. Those defensive stats all come from gear though, so we won't see it at 70.

Also, I think the damage increases are much more apparent on burst classes, just because you don't have time to react. Coupl that with the non gear relient survivability of a paladin (bubble, bop, heals in general, lay on hands), and it's a tough combo until everyone ges the gear needed for the survivability.
