So they are releasing this for Windows 7 two months after launch for a small percentage of video cards?  I hope they aren't surprised when it sells poorly.

I don't know if this is a Win 7 Exclusive or not.
If they do make DIRT 2 a Win 7 Exclusive, that'd be a grave mistake...

That's great news for Vista users -- that DX11 will be a digital download and all.

Looks like they learned from the mistake of having NO DX10.0 support on Win XP, when they released DX 10.0 as a Win Vista Exclusive...

I don't think DIRT 2's PC Requirements are out yet...

None; not yet.

Little bit of info on DX11 here, in this thread.

As far as we know, DirectX 10 Cards will support DX11.

I'd bet though, DX11 cards would probably handle DX11 better than a DX10 card would, of course...
But, hey -- at least if you got a DX10 card, you can run DX11....

I've got about 3 hours into this game, according to Steam - damn, this is an awesome racing game. And I'm just playing the Single Player portion right now here.

I barely tried the MP - and I got wiped-out, first go-round...LOL. Need more practice, it looks like...

I'd be dead last in a lot of this "first time run" through those tracks, if it wasn't for Flashback mode.

I love this game.  And trying out Grid finally put it into perspective.  Dirt 2 is way more sophisticated.  It feels real, with cars that have mass and 4 separate tires which behave independently and very differently on the varying terrains. It has an effortless presence unmatched in any other racer I've tried.  Grid feels like a cartoon by comparison, and there's no way I can get into it now.  I almost wish I had tried these games out in the opposite order.  It's hard to fathom the progress Codemasters made in just 2 years.  Big winner.  I wonder how the 3rd installment compares.

I got this for free with my ATI 5770 a few years ago, put some hours in and had some fun, but you really just made me want to reinstall it. It really is an awesome rally experience.

You know what's funny?
I just downloaded & installed GRID (PC) [from Steam] last night - since I been meaning to give it a run, sometime.
I've had this game for quite a while, back when I bought Codemaster Racing Pack from Steam (DIRT 1, DIRT 2, GRID, FUEL, and TOCA Race Driver 3).
DIRT 2's the only game I actually played of the club, so far!

DIRT 2 (PC) is awesome. :D

EDIT:
I been meaning to pick-up DIRT 3 (PC) - but I probably really should play DIRT 2 more, first.
DIRT 3 - Steam Version (PC) [which also req. G4WL] is like $8.49 (before 20% off coupon of GMG20-FDSCL-AQQXD) right now on GreenManGaming.

DIRT 3 is said to have 60% focus in Career Mode on RALLYING, as 2nd trailer/video from left on Steam states.

60%?  The one criticism 2 got here and there is that other event types take too much career time away from pure rallying.  I don't know about that.  Everything is so well implemented, and the variety keeps things from getting dull over time.  I'm not a big fan of stadium events, but once I'm in one, I lose myself in the moment just the same.

While Forza 4 is more serious in terms of car setups and sim handling, the AI racers are shit.  They follow their splines as if you didn't exist.  Here, the AI is constantly aware of you, and even talks to you based on what you're doing.  Watching replays, it is clear they always do their best to avoid plowing into you, while trying to gain the upper hand.  The different difficulties make them more or less able to hold turns at speed, it seems.  There are at least 5 of those, so you can dial in the challenge you want.  Replays show how much they can stick with you, and take advantage of your mistakes.  They are not just following a canned line and making a beeline for it when they get pushed off of it.  They seem to be actually performing somehow.  The physics are phenomenal.  I can't overstate how good the action feels.  They may be more forgiving than a pure sim's, but flying too fast into a corner or over a bump will be costly just the same.

My biggest gripe is that I can't save replays.  Some of them are epic.  There's also the rare hiccup, where the action freezes for a second.  Streaming bug or deficiency, I imagine.  By rare I mean perhaps once every other multi-hour play session--very rare, but still quite disconcerting when it happens, and disappointing.

The lack of the ability to save replays is a huge omission and something I can only hope that they fixed in Dirt 3.
