That brings back some memories. My first daughter knew the full alphabet at 18 months. I'm not sure how she got there, but when I realized she was sounding off letters on the refrigerator door (magnet letters) I went through all of them, and she got all of them. (She couldn't say "double-U". More like "doh". Ha!) She could read normal books by age 4. My 2nd one is a more normal child. No reading until she was taught in school. She did not react when I talked to her at birth either. My first one did. She was struggling to look at me through closed eyelids as I was welcoming her into the world.
So you can try that sort of thing with your children, but don't expect it to work. Some magic gene combination seems to be needed.
