Sweet! I'd love to find one of those. Some of my best gaming days were on the Dreamcast.

Selling my Dreamcast was a terrible mistake. I still regret it. I'd be willing to buy one for that price, especially considering how it probably won't turn into the shiny paperweight that is now my PS3.

You still haven't gotten the issues with your PS3 worked out?  Jeez.  One would think you bought a 360 with the problems you're having.

My PS3's main purpose now is general media (music, videos, photos shared from my media server). I haven't used for games so much lately.

There's no one in my city that repairs them. I talked to someone about an hour and a half away and they can do it for $140 or so. Apparently they get a ton in with my problem (laser problem). Just got my tax rebate check, so I'll probably do it soon.

I find it hilarious that you recommend a 360 as an alternative to hardware problems. ;)

Heh, it wasn't a recommendation.  I was saying you talk about your PS3 as though it were a 360.

I just find this ironic because Ghandi opted for the PS3 instead of his 360 because of the issues...

That's the up side of the more fragile hardware.  The repair pipeline is in prime condition.   :P

Now they've added E74-error failures to the RRoD long warranty.

Actually, I do have something to say on topic.  It surprises me that these ancient consoles with absolutely no official support or new games can still sell at that price, and apparently sell in a frenzy.  Unreal.

Yeah, it would be funny if it weren't for the painful amount of money that I spent on the system.

Why is that surprising, Cobra?  You can't get them anymore, so of course a *new* one is going to be a hot commodity.  If you don't jump at the chance, you run the risk of never finding them again.  For an enthusiast, even a used one in good condition is a plus.  I already have one that isn't all that heavily used, so have no need, but if you missed out, or if your old one busted... a hundred bucks is great!

Thats pretty cool.

I still have mine as well. I keep thinking about pulling it out of it's box to play some marvel vs capcom, but I always get side-tracked.

That was one game we really enjoyed as a 4-player tag-team battle royale! Good times.

I don't have a Dreamcast anymore but my Satrun is still intact, occasionally we'll bring it out and play some Street Fighter Alpha 2.

At the OWmeet, we did bust out the Dreamcast for some MVC.  Good times.

I think the speed at which these sold out is more becuase it's the Dreamcast than it is just any older system. It wasn't on the market for long, so there's not hundreds of thousands lying around like the NES and others. It's also a great system with some good games. It's a shame it died so soon.

If I ever get my hands on one I already know the games I'm getting for it, starting with MVC and Skies of Arcadia!

I still miss playing mine.  I have the games I had for it, but I'm missing the power unit.  No idea what happened to it.

I loved Skies. Wish I could play through it again. I'm a sucker for anything with flying ships and hot women. ;)

You and me, bro. I never finished it, I think I only played through the first chapter. Really liked what I experienced.

Ooh, I think there was Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Dreamcast too.

Oh, crap that was the one I missed! Was there one on Dreamcast at all?

Grandia II is another one I nearly forgot about, though I have it on PC anyway.

Grandia II was the first and only game I ever got a free review copy of.  Aww.  It got a fairly good review... pretty cool little game.  The PC implementation was sadly not so perfect, but still.

EDIT - Trippy.  Couldn't find the review (I sometimes check to see if the full text exists anywhere -- generally not), but found this snippet in the RPGVault archive:

Quote
Grandia II Review at AllOutGames
A lukewarm Grandia II review is up at AllOutGames. The sound is noted as one source of frustration, as are the graphics:

The game's most immediate failure can be found in its graphics. From the low-res introductory movie to the uninteresting opening scene, any regular of PC gaming will realize the game simply looks sub-par. A resolution of 1024x768 will surely make this port look superior to its brethren, but there's no avoiding the crude looking environments. Notably different from most PC RPGs, however, is the colorful, distinctly Japanese style of the game. As would be expected, a European or Tolkinesque world is not included, and all characters sport the cute/deformed anime look similar to what we saw in Final Fantasy VII.

Apparently the gameplay makes up for some of the RPG's shortcomings, as the reviewer gives Grandia II a score of 73%. The console-ported game was developed by GameArts.

Funny.

Yeah, it was a pretty good one. Its gameplay is what made it stand out rather than visuals or music. After playing it I looked up the original Grandia for PSX. It's very different and a much more traditional JRPG than than Grandia II.

EDIT:
Good stuff hehe brings back some fond and not-so-fond memories :P I miss reading reviews from you guys. Some of the commentary here feels like snippets from reviews.
