I'm not that good at 2-d fighters either.  Just have to practice and eventually you'll start to become better.

I'm actually attempting to write a beginner's guide to the game and, to a lesser extent, 2D fighters in general.  When I'm done, you can buy the game and become a master.

EDIT - For some reason, I find this very funny.

I've been playing with Taokaka and beginning to like her style.  I have learned I play much better with characters that don't use chain moves.  That and Taokaka is just funny as shit.

Edit: I need a signature with Jin and Taokaka in it.  I'm to lazy to make one myself haha.

Anyone sitting on the fence about getting this, I would suggest getting this soon.  The Limited Edition is selling out fast and its the same price as a regular game, $60.  In August, when the standard version ships you won't get the soundtrack and tutorial videos.

Also, the tutorial videos are surprisingly good for all levels of players, theres some good beginner stuff and detailed expert things as well.  In fact, the game is a lot more beginner friendly than I thought it would be so don't be afraid to jump into it if you have any interest.

I'll second that.  It's definitely a hardcore fighter and you'll be getting into a hardcore crowd, but there are plenty of scrubs online from what I understand (me included), and I've had a couple good fights that were pretty evenly matched.  There are some elements of the game which would seem to be a help to newer players, and like Dustin said, that DVD is pretty helpful.  Even if you look at the combos at first and are like "You want me to do WHAT?", it's nice being able to see a video of the combo so you can tell what you're doing wrong and how it's actually supposed to go.  There are still several Litchi combos I can't pull off, but I can do several, and I even added my own moves to a couple of them, which is pretty cool.

Definitely worth grabbing.  The soundtrack is amazing, too.  The DJ Oh No remixes they included are kind of shitty, but that's like 6 tracks out of 42, heh, and everything Daisuke Ishiwatari touches is gold.

EDIT - So, be happy you got the artbook.  Holy shit.

I stared down about 5 PS3 CE's tonight at Best Buy.  I wanted to bite so badly...but I just can't.

Had a shit tonne of 360 CE's left too.

If you're going to splurge on a fighting game, this is the one.  The roster is a bit smaller than some, but the uniqueness of each character makes up for that, and this is honestly the best 2D fighter I've ever played.  You should totally give in.

I might feel more inclined if I hadn't just bought Fight Night Round 4.

Just think: you could regularly hop online and kick my ass.  And that's something most people here would jump at the chance for.

Do any of you still play this?  I'm considering picking it up in the near future.  It looks pretty awesome.  That said, I haven't played a fighting game in many, many years except for Super Smash Bros. and SSB: Melee.

I would still play it if I ever had time to play games these days.  I'll need to devote some time for when the meet happens, as I'm sure epic battles will be had.  I know Belmont still plays, and at least Pyro, Idol, and Sy own it.

I still play from time to time so if you ever end up getting the PS3 version I can play with you.  If you have a headset we can even chat while we play.

I'm probably gonna pick it up in the next couple of weeks as long as the store I'm planning on buying from will still have stock.  Just waiting on a gift card.
