One thing I love about both films is Optimus' overall demeanor. He's a valiant and wise leader but when the fighting starts he goes F'ing savage!!!

I thought it was horrendous. No revolutionary CG in the world could save the most stupid dialogue I've ever heard and the most brain dead humor interjected every fucking minute. I mean even sometimes I put down my standards for the sake of being entertained but this goes way beyond that line. This is Micheal Bay at his best, which means it's absolute shit.

To add insult to injury, the designs of the all the robots seemed generally worse too. Almost all of them looked like Bionicle rejects, which is kinda sad. The only saving grace was Soundwave was actually kinda cool. As he was generally my favorite in the cartoon, it was nice to seem his pretty much all business and doing what he did best.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I liked the sequel better.  Now, I don't think either one are great, but I liked them well enough.

It's just another popcorn movie (if you can even consider it that). I love action and fantasy flicks but even my limits were being pushed here.

There's one thing a friend of mine pointed out right after we watched it: the Autobots are supposed to be hiding in plain sight (as the theme goes "Transformers, more than meets the eye... Robots in disguise") and the Decepticons supposedly don't give a shit about hiding. For some reason the Autobots so frickin' flamboyant, with bright colours and flashy shit, and they spend most of their time in robot-form in public, but the Decepticons are in more conventional vehicle colours and blend in in really well. Half the time it's hard to tell what the Decepticons really look like.

On a personal note, I found Megan Fox really annoying in this one. It's like her voice changed since the last movie. I know her face changed, and that's a shame, but her voice was just too damn ungh!!!

I haven't even seen the second, though I thought the first was pretty good. But from what I understand, Bay overdid the stuff that worked in the first to a grotesque degree in the sequel. I liken it to Family Guy when it came back.

As for a third movie, I am not at all surprised -- considering the tons of money the franchise has made so far, but I am disappointed that Bay is still at the helm.

It was inevitable there would be a Transformers 3 -- these movie just keep making TOO MUCH money for the studios for them NOT TO.

I only saw the original Transformers movie -- great action and special effects, I must say. Though, there's the other major flaws: crap-tastic dialogue, acting, and story. Plus, the film goes on WAY too long.

I expect all Trans films to follow that trademark, unfortunately -- especially since Bay is at the helm.

Really, though -- they need to hire great writers and actors, next time around...

They don't even try to tell a story that makes sense.  They figured it would be too much of an inconvenience to the action sequences they wanted to get into the movie, I guess.  Seems they were right.  When the audience doesn't give a shit, and still packs the theaters, why bother spending any resources on making sense?

How can a movie w/ such amazing CG, outstanding visuals, and kick-ass action that is leagues beyond anything out there...

OMG, movie's more on and off than a light switch.

The movie's WAY TOO long. Shorten up majorly the story and character stuff. Stick to the incredible action.
That or just find some AMAZING writers and really make all that dialogue stuff as exciting as something Tarantion would write, if you're going to keep it THAT long. Take your pick.

Watched it last night on Blu-ray. Shaia Lebouf is so annoying, Megan Fox is eh. She is like a porn star in a big hollywood movie. The story was terrible, and made little sense.

BUT, if you want to see giant beautifully animated robots fighting, it's pretty cool. And it looks and sounds awesome on Blu-ray.

All I can think is: Why would someone design a giant robot that moved metal flaps shaped like a mouth when it "spoke"? They don't have vocal cords, they aren't using this "mouth" to form the words. That would be a waste of resources and energy to design and build.

If I had to apply a logical reason for it I'd say it's to appeal to the human form more than anything else. Part of their acclimation to the Earthling way of life. It's not a plot-breaking factor.. Unlike so many of the other flaws and inaccuracies. Like: why would a giant robot require testicles?!

The sci-fi rule is that while you have a fantastic premise, you still need to make sense everywhere else.  Otherwise, there is nothing anchoring the story to reality, or the reader's (or viewer's) experience.  Without this, the whole thing crumbles like bricks without mortar.  So let there be humanoid giant robots who morph into common human vehicles for camouflage.  That's the fantastic premise.  The rest must be grounded in reality.

I'm already looking past a lot of logical flaws. Like a robot thats several stories tall and must way multiple tons is able to move smoothly and swiftly completely contrary to the laws of acceleration, deceleration, and inertia. But its cool, so I let it slide.

Is it too much to ask that it makes a little sense at some point? The "mouth" is just too elaborate. Its adding too much complication to an already complicated machine. Hell, I think this crap about real life cars. "Push a button and the doors automatically close!" Thats great until that motor breaks...and it will eventually. Then the door either wont open or it becomes difficult to open or you pay a bunch of money to fix it. If it was just a door like every other door in history then its a problem doesnt exist.

What happens when one of the mouth motors break? Does it look like the giant robot had a stroke?

Oh yeah.  Gravitational pull doesn't scale.  It's constant for any mass, so an object would take much longer to tumble if it's several stories high instead of 6 feet.  Then there are more esoteric complications with scaling.  Strength and structural viability are dependent on cross-sectional area, which is a power-of-2 function.  Mass is a power-of-3 function.  When you scale an object by a factor of 10 without changing any proportions or composition, its mass increases 1000 times while its strength and ability to hold together only increase 100 times.  This is why an elephant has thick legs, while a spider's are spindly.

What the hell? The first one was quite good. It was controlled.

I am not even going to start with all that was excessive or whatever... or even the story.

What the hell was up with the editing and the direction? It was so amateur. Action scenes were cut with tiny transition scenes that almost felt like an after thought. Poorly done. And then some of those scenes didn't make sense!

There was one scene where Sam was escaping in Optimus, followed by another where he was escaping in Bumblebee, and suddenly, he was escaping in Optimus again.

The whole movie was like that. It was almost as if Ewe Boll was directing on a big budget! No joke.
