Any get it? I'm trying to decide which version to get at the moment. Xbox 360, or PC. leaning to PC.

Despite my initial glee at the announcement, it seems like LucasArts have done enough "wrong" with this to make me not really care. The new look for Guybrush is painful, switching to classic graphics turns off the new voice overs and sounds (this is so completely stupid its amazing), and so far the only place to get it is Steam and Direct2Drive.

Yeah. It's all a big buzzkill. Apparently we still can't trust LucasArts with it's own history. Not really a big shock there.

Turning on and off new voice-over and sounds should be an option for the gamer, regardless of what graphics style you have on.

Yeah, I have zero interest for all the reasons mentioned.  Fuck LucasArts.  I don't know what the hell happened to them, but whatever it was, it was bad.

They became a big corporation and half-ass some things.

I guess at least it's only $10 regular price on Steam...

I bought this tonight on XBLA.  Having never played the original I figured it was worth 10 bucks.  So far I am right.  One of the cool things about the game is that you are actually able to switch back and forth on the fly from original to updated and vice versa.  So if you discover a new area you can just hit 'back' and it reverts to the original production.

As far as the lack of voiceovers and stuff in the original presentation, I believe I'd much rather have the option of playing through it the way it was originally presented or the updated version rather than being able to play some weird mishmash of the two.

Glad Lucasarts is finally coming around to noticing that these games are still a valuable resource for them.  The updated graphical style remains pretty true to the original game as best I can tell, and maintains the whimsical nature.  It's also very pretty on a nice HD display.

Long story short, this game is win.

I don't think adding the voice to the original would have taken away from its nostalgic appeal. I felt it added to the Indiana Jones games. Anyway, it's not a big issue and it'll probably be hacked/tweaked by some resourceful community members.

I'm enjoying the crap out of this.  I'll buy every remake like this that Lucasarts wants to do.

If they release a retail version, i'll probably grab that as well, just to have it.

Get your positive attitude out of this thread.  It's making it all gross.

You're about as fearsome as a doorstop.  And not a really evil-looking doorstop.

The one negative I've found is the ease of using the hint system.  You basically just hold X and it gives you increasingly explicit hints as to what to do next.  It's very nice if I've been trying to figure out something for a while and I just want to get on with it, but it's very easy to just want to press that button now.  I've only used it a handful of times but a person could easily ruin their experience with the game by relying too heavily on it.

Course every time I've used it I've been pissed at myself because of how easy it was to figure out.

I've sorta been going through an old LA adventure game/Tim Schafer kick lately in anticipation of Brutal Legends and made my way to Monkey Island the other night. Out of curiosity, I started looking up videos from the special edition and... it's just sad:

&feature=related

That is such a wasted opportunity, and it's not the only one I've seen.

That was way funnier when I did the voice in my head.
