And it's nearly here.

Gaming's going to suck for a while.

According to the Activision CFO, there is a demand from its core fanbase to pay for additional services.

Well, Activi$ion is definitely the new EA.

If MW2's multiplayer had as much to offer as WoW's, then there would be few complaints.

Here is a quote from the comments section of that news item:

Oh this would explain why they want everyone on their IW.net system. How convenient.

That article is a straight up lie. "there's a demand from users to pay for multiplayer." My ass there is.

I'd be surprised if this actually worked. Isn't that part of what fucked Hellgate London?

Bingo.

If the dev's are not generating content and fixes ALL the time for the MP part of the game all the time, who's gonna pay-to-play your product?

Well, now it's obvious why they were pushing for IWNet and such services: no private servers = tyrannical domination.

If we had dedicated server options  we could cater to our individual needs but since we have to use their servers and their matchmaking systems we're pretty much screwed from all angles but one: the "I don't give a shit, I jus' wanna git into a game right da fuk now" angle.

Yea I agree. This is different from nickel and diming us with stupid DLC, this just looks like all kinds of ridiculousness to even consider. I mean even to the uninformed gamer will see this as, "how come I have been able to play these games online for free, while these are not?" Paying for broadband, paying for XBox Live, then adding another payment on top of that for a game will scream little sense to anyone.

Well good thing I don't play much multiplayer in the first place.

I don't know if you guys saw my latest post in MW2 thread, but Ghost is getting his own spin-off game...

We don't know if it's gonna be DLC, stand-alone expansion, or a full-fledged expansion - but, I'm gonna bet it'll be MW2 DLC, given that the IWNet was created and all probably for DLC endeavors...

I've heard something about a possible CoD MMO (which makes no sense really), but if that's the case this whole thing would make more sense.
