Have you started playing yet?  I'm only a few hours in, but my impression is this: the story is bad.  The voice acting is terrible.  But I'm really enjoying the gameplay.  It feels like a lower budget game, but it gets all of the important things right.

Haven't touched it.  Honestly, I probably won't for months with the way things are going.

It has its flaws but I still enjoyed it. It's pretty slow paced and can get monotonous at times but it stood out at the time. I still have the disc somewhere in storage.

The combat is very similar to the Final Fantasy turn-based style.

Okay okay okay.  Can someone explain how this is going to work if I buy the game through GMG?  Like, am I actually going to have to install a new client or will I just be able to load it up through Steam?

Yeah, just register the key GMG gives you in an e-mail the day of the game's release and plug that into Steam.

GMG does have their own client called Capsule, but you just don't need that for Steam-required games.
You'll need Capsule for any Non-Steam games you buy from them, though.

When dealing w/ Steam-required games from other places [Gamersgate, GMG, D2D, Impulse, Amazon, etc] you take the game-key you are given by the digital distributor, hop onto Steam, and register it onto Steam.
Then, you can let Steam do everything from there forward.

I'll copy and paste part of the e-mail I got from them about my order w/ DE: HR.
These are the specifics.

Desura started off by being a mod platform for your installed games (affiliated with ModDB.com). They've been around for a while, since 2009 I think. I believe it was originally based in Australia.

It's a decent platform overall. Even if you didn't buy games through Desura it will still detect the games you have installed and work with them (mods, custom DLC, etc.).

Yeah its basically the continuation of ModDB, IndieDB, and now Desura that actually sells indie games and lets you download mods.

Technically I havent purchased anything directly from them yet but I did register all my Humble and other indie bundles on there and it seems pretty slick.

I've purchased a few things there. It's a nice little program. Has some quirks, but nothing any worse than Steam had, and I'm a hell of a lot more apt to forgive these people.

Holy rip-off! All the prices in the EA store are ridiculous! In my region they're all listed in Euros but with the same numerical values as the US store! For example, Battlefield 3 pre-order is USD $49.99 and €49.99 (USD $72)!! That is utter crap.

Anomaly is the Weekend Deal on Steam at 67% off going for $3.33. If you haven't played Anomaly yet it's a pretty innovative take on the Tower Defense genre; it's Tower Offense! Pair that creative approach with its polished look & feel and you've got a great deal.
