The Witcher 2 Assassin of Kings on Xbox 360 is FREE until Feb 5

It's also now playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility.

I believe the is US, Canada, UK, and Germany only.

I already had the digital version on the 360, so I installed it on the One today.  I also picked up Deus Ex: Human Revolution on the 360 (free for the rest of the month), and installed it on the One.  Make sure to grab that one of you haven't already.

Edit:  Just my luck, page break.  Quoted you so your info wouldn't be pushed back a page.

GOG is giving away Consortium Master Edition for the next 48 hours. Just go to the front page and the link was right at the top to claim it.

Hey, W7RE, don't miss Styx: Master of Shadows.  This is a surprisingly good stealth game, despite a low budget, and free right now with Gold on XBL.

Yeah, I grabbed it. I was actually thinking about buying it at release, but I had other games to play at the time so skipped it.

Damnit, I should have said something in here. Yesterday they were giving away Hell Yeah, Golden Axe, and Jet Set Radio.

Wasn't sure where to stick this.  There's no Sunset OD thread, and this is a digital deal, so . . .

Sunset Overdrive (XONE) is now free with Gold.  This is the crown on a particularly good month.  It will remain at that price for a month (till mid-May).  This probably only applies to me, in this crowd:  If you have the disc version already installed, and you grab the free digital version, it will instantly go from "installing" to "play".  It just gives you the license to play without a disc.  No downloading time at all.  (The disc was out of the drive when I did this, and I suspect that may be necessary.  It may just tell you that you already own the game if the disc is inserted.  But I'll never know for sure now.)  This also confirms that the disc and digital versions of (most? all?) games are the same.  Only the copy protection is different.

So, who wants a disc version of Sunset OD?  Really, not worth a plug nickel for the next month, at least.  I kinda like it up there on my shelf--a memento of times past, when we all got games as physical goods.

Sunset Overdrive is a ton of fun, and anyone with an Xbox One should check it out. I think you might even be able to add it to your account if you have Gold but not an XB1 (though I doubt many are still paying for Gold with just a 360).

Some good deals going on.

Humble has another Nintendo Bundle with a mix of 3DS and Wii U games.
Quote
3DS
----
PWYW for:
Retro City Rampage: DX
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse

BTA for:
Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure
Citizens of Earth
Nano Assault EX
Retro City Rampage 3DS Theme

$13 for:
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition

Wii U
-----
PWYW for:
Affordable Space Adventures

BTA for:
Freedom Planet
Citizens of Earth
Swords & Soldiers II
Runbow

$13 for:
Darksiders II

One bundle contains games for both systems. I just spit them up in case you only have one platform you can see whats on offer. NOTE: Shantae you will get BOTH 3DS and Wii U copies, but Citizens of Earth you must choose one or the other.

Humble also has an Eye Candy Bundle...which I'm not sure why its called that. The games are good but I don't know about eye candy. Anyway:
Quote
PWYW for:
Human Resource Machine: DRM-free and Steam
Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's Cut: Steam
A Boy and His Blob: Steam

BTA for:
Mini Metro: DRM-free and Steam
Mushroom 11: DRM-free and Steam
Towerfall Ascension: DRM-free and Steam

$10 for:
Evoland II: DRM-free and Steam

I can vouch for Mini Metro and played some Human Resource Machine this morning and they are both totally worth grabbing the bundle for. I'm looking forward to trying Mushroom 11 and Towerfall when I can get them downloaded.

I have A Boy and His Blob on wii. Its super adorable.

Humble Monthly Bundle this next month will be pretty cool. Buy it now ($12, but by buying the last bundle I got a coupon making it $10.80) and get Rocket League right away. Thats half off the regular price, plus I'd be getting whatever other games end up being part of the bundle that releases early next month. I may just bite on this one.

I haven't bought a Monthly.
But they've had some good ones here + there - Alien Isolation, South Park: Stick of Truth, Mad Max, and now Rocket League.

Holy **** did anyone spot this?!

https://www.gog.com/game/star_wars_shadows_of_the_empire

Shadows of the Empire is on GOG.com for PC!

Ok, so it hasn't aged well but this is an iconic Star Wars game from the N64. Even though Disney now considers it non-canon, whatever, it was awesome.

Like yourself "Whatever" at what Disney considers canon and non-canon.
I loved the hell out of KOTOR and really dug KOTOR 2 - so if they don't consider those canon, screw 'em.
Not going to stop me from digging SW games like KOTOR 1+2.

Not sure how many are going to feel about this....

Dead Island Definitive Editions - DI: Original + DI: Riptide On STEAM.

Anyways, on Steam...there's a LOYALTY Discount of 85% off for Steam-owners of:
Dead Island [original]: GOTY + Dead Island: Riptide GOTY Edition that want to go for (pre-orders) on the new Definitive Editions.

Dead Island [original]: Definitive Edition = $3
Dead Island: Riptide - Definitive Edition = $3.
Or you can buy the Bundle w/ the two above games + also includes Dead Island: Retro Rampage for around $10.

Ubi don't care; they want $.

Man, Battleborn is already in a humble bundle. Thats rough.

$1 Tier
    The Darkness II
    Spec Ops: The Line
    Duke Nukem Forever

BTA Tier

    NBA 2K16
    Mafia II: Digital Deluxe Edition

I was skeptical of The Darkness II due to developer switch, but they really did a great job with it. Not the masterpiece that the first game was, but does its own thing and does it well. Great deal for a buck!

Forza Horizon 1 (X360) is free with Gold right now.  It also went back-compatible on the Xbox One, so it works on both systems.  Quite a nifty double surprise for this big fan.  I've praised it enough in other threads.  I still consider it one of the best open-world racers ever, even considering the competition on current hardware.

Technical issues on the X1:  The game needs to be launched from a cold boot if the console is online.  Otherwise it starts to stutter horrendously.  Even after working correctly for a long time, if you pause it for any length of time, it will start to stutter again when you get back to it.  My guess is that once the system thinks it can start doing shit in the background involving the online store, updates, ads, etc, a conflict arises.  Taking the console offline (under Settings->All Settings->Network) solves the problem completely.  (No need to reboot.)  When the game works right, it works just as well as on the original system (which is to say perfectly).

Edit:  I have noticed some rare hitches that don't happen on the 360.  Other than that, amazing job.  It looks better on the newer hardware too (no aliasing).

I can't get Forza Horizon to work on my Xbox One.. By the way, I got an Xbox One S..

Every time I load it up it asks me to sign in. I hit Sign in, it then asks to "download profile" I agree and it sits there for a minute trying to connect. It inevitably fails with an error message "unable to connect to Xbox Live service" and gives me two options "Test connection" and "cancel."

I checked and this seems to be the case with all Xbox 360 games I try to run on my Xbox One. It always gets to the same point and fails to connect.

I've scoured the support forums and it's quite challenging to find results that are specific to Xbox 360 games running on Xbox One; no one seems to be running into this issue.

360 games only need verification the first time they run on the X1.  (After that, you don't need to be online.)  What you're describing sounds like an issue for a support call.  FH1 can't upload ghosts or download cars (no more support for that?), but I never had an issue launching it, or other BC 360 games.

Can you connect to XBL at all?  One more thing to try is to make sure you're passing along the proper ports* to the system through your router.  The other possibility that occurs to me is your region.  [Edit:  You can check the health of your connection under Settings->All Settings->Network.  That should tell you about your NAT.]

There was a system update a couple of days ago that mostly fixed the tech issues with the game that I described above.  I've only had one reoccurrence of the horrible hitching in the past two days, and a relaunch of the game fixed it (no system reboot, no going offline).  Guess I was right.  It's a system-conflict issue, not a game bug.
