I guess this would be the time to tell everyone to check out the totally fucking awesome trailer. Its all CG stuff but it rocks. Anyway as big as it is, I'm still interested. For the past month warhammer has just consumed me.

Something about this games tells me it won't work half as well as Dawn of War. From everything I've seen, it just gives me this feeling that it's not so fun.

However, all the art is freaking awesome and that alone gives me hope. I'm at 80% on the download, so I might give it a go tonight even though I should be doing other things.

I really want to try it, but... holy hell.  I don't even have the space.  Fucking hard drive.

You might want to try and find space.

Granted, I didn't play a lot, but I think they did good. It's a lot more of a direct conversion of the tabletop game than DoW was to 40K and basically it plays out like I imagine the Total War games do. Formations and such are a factor in the game as they are in the table top version. There's even a deployment phase just like the original. Animations are less dynamic and cool than DoW, but it looks very pretty and it seems like it'll generally have more guys on the screen at once. For the most part they captured the look of a lot the Warhammer stuff well. We knew that all along with all the screens and artwork released, but now I'm more sure of that. Some of the Skaven stuff looks really awesome. I'm suprised it ran so well too. Everything is on high and it held up pretty well in the tutorials. That's becoming less common for my PC these days.

What impresses me most is the army builder part. It really looks like you'll be able to totally customize your force and take it out like you can with the real game. They're also taking the approach of having a few major factions, but then subfactions within that group which is awesome because now there are a couple specific variations of Choas.

So yeah, it seems like they did well at least in bringing something close to the original to the PC. I'm still on the ropes of it being that fun, maybe even a little moreso now because I'm not actually all that fond of the Total War style of play. Adding demons and rat people is just the sort of thing that would make me more interested, however.

Right off the bat it's impressive. Graphically it looks great, and it really does feel a lot like Warhammer: Dark Omen, from back in the day. That was my first exposure to the Warhammer universe, then I discovered the tabletop stuff.

Sy pretty much covered it. It does have a slower pace than DoW, but the scape of the game feels more epic.

I wouldn't necessarily call it more epic. The battles may have more guys in it, but they feel significantly smaller. This is pretty much how the table top game feels too. 40K is made to feel more choatic and faster. Those sorts of things can make it feel like the stakes are higher and the battle is actually bigger than it is... I imagine that's why Relic made a more traditional RTS out of it instead of doing more of a straight conversion like they did with Mark of Choas.

Interesting indeed.  I really need to get off my ass and figure out exactly what packing I need to ship that damned drive back to Seagate.  There's gonna' be all this stuff coming out, and I can't play any of it.

Thank goodness Gears of War is for 360.
