I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a LONG while on buying a new PC, since this PC here is now over 5 years old - I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner, actually. When it'll actually and really happen, eh - who knows; maybe a week from now, maybe months from now, maybe a year from now - who the Hell knows. *shrug*
I just think the move will be "soon" - well, "soon" as in - I think Rage, Witcher 2, Crysis 2, or any of those big-time games might push me to make a move to a brand-new rig, at the very latest.
Anyways, I saw
this Gateway Gaming PC on TigerDirect - and a few other places on sale (Amazon, J&R, etc), as well - namely in the $1300-1500 bracket. I'm not much on pre-fab, but that didn't seem too bad, for a pre-fab.
So, I'm really curious here, got some questions...
1. How is the Radeon HD 5850 card supposed to be? Especially in comparison to the new 768 GB and 1 GB versions of the GeForce GTX 460 cards?
2. How's the HT-supported quad-core 2.8 Ghz Intel Core i7-930 supposed to be?
3. Anybody around here have a Blu-Ray burner-drive on their PC? How do you like it for storage?
It'd be kinda nice to put big-ass games (like those 15 GB a pop or more) or multiple games in a series that I've bought from Steam like GTA4 and GTA:EFLC on one BR disc.
4. Or know any other pieces and parts - mobo's, quad-core processors (or above), vid cards, RAM, optical drivers, or entire PC's - getting better bang for the buck?
BTW, 750 watts...that kinda watt-supply sounds like a beast.
