This is it
« on: Thursday, July 29, 2010, 10:16:08 AM »
In about five minutes the computer comes down, my desk gets torn apart and donated to charity, and I start moving things out of my home.

I'll see you on the East side folks.

Well, not really. I'll still have my laptop, but from here on out my connection will hardly be steady. So, I'll see you when I see until late August.

Good luck with the trip!

Good Luck! Why is it gonna take so long to get everything set up? A month seems like quite a while.

Thanks all.

And we're almost off. Storage boxes/Pods are gone, apartment is nearly empty, and just have some cleaning left. Fuck, this is really happening.

That'll probably hit me more after I rest a little. Save for some evening help from Que, Aimee and I did this move more or less ourselves. It's pretty amazing how much stuff you can build up and somehow store in a fairly small two bedroom apartment. I think I brought at least 85 boxes down our stairs, plus a few select pieces of furniture. Otherwise, Craigslist helped sell several pieces, Que bought a few, and then Craigslist helped us again by telling people to take all the shit that was left over.

I'm just sore as hell right now. Really really sore.

Yea fuck moving. The worst part is after you are done with the packing, and have to do some cleaning up, and are left with tons of minor crap that takes hours to gather up.

As for when it will hit you. It will hit you when you are in your new environment, trying to settle in.

I've moved so many times in my life, that I've noticed something.

Whenever I move into a new neighborhood/home, I get this weird alien feeling with everything so new etc. Months after I am settled in, and everything feels like home, I recall how I felt on day 1 and it just feels so damn weird.

Right now Im crammed in a small 2 bedroom apartment with myself, my dad, and my brother, I'm so ready to move out of here. Right now we're looking for a house to move into but the process is dragging, finding the right one takes time.

Anyway good luck to you Sy, enjoy the road trip!

And I'm here. Actually, I've been here for a few days now but haven't really had internet access. Right now it's mostly just what Aimee and I brought in the car, but we haven't moved in all our major stuff because the carpets are going to be cleaned next Monday. For now, it's like camping indoors with our sleeping mats and minimal cooking equipment.

The trip was pretty great. We got to see five national parks, an old friend in St Louis, the future home of Pyro, and the once and future home of Idol. Good times, even if I was eaten alive by mosquitoes multiple times.

Now, it's time to somehow move into a new state and learn how to be a crazy graduate student. At some point I'll get pictures of the trip up for those who care. Aimee did something special with these, so they should be fun.

If you can believe it, that was fewer mosquitoes than we were dealing with earlier that week.

Oh yeah, you left that card with the petrified wood here. I ran down the driveway but you were already on your way. I can mail it to you whenever I have a package for you.

I believe it, but the good thing was your place was cool enough that stuff like that didn't matter.

And yeah, I realized I left it a while later. No biggie. I also realized that I left behind the moss garden, unless you really wanted it and your parents were just giving your stuff away.
