I see nothing there that convinces me of any one scenario.  Given who's who, the propensity of little people to sue celebrities, and that I believe lack of evidence means life should proceed as if absolutely nothing happened, I side with Bill Cosby.

Absolutely, damage control.  The quicker this is put to rest, the less damage to the celebrity, which is crucial.  The unknown party gets some celebrity out of it, regardless of outcome.  No risk to her, and possible fame (15 minutes) and fortune to gain.

Attorneys for Cosby say the comedian gave the woman Benadryl allergy tablet after she complained of stress and sleeping problems.

BENADRYL?!?!?!

Near as I can tell, the only drug that has ever been used in a successful date-rape is alcohol. Not Benadryl, not Rohypnol (roofies), definitely not MDMA (ecstasy) since MDMA being an aphrodisiac is a media myth.
