There is now a Lite/demo version of Mega Mall Story. Check it out if you haven't bought the game. Seeing as how Kairosofts last game hit 99 cents a month after release, I think I can hold out for that inevitable sale.
One game I've been playing recently is
Dice Soccer. Free download, no ads, but there are IAPs if you want to hurry things along. So far I havent felt the need to buy anything.
Basically the game boils down to dice (duh). You have a team of 7 players, each one represented by a six sided die. 3 in the front line, 3 defense, and a goalie. Uh, I guess the easiest way to explain this is to go through a simple match.
Game starts and its the kickoff, both teams front line rolls. Whoever ends up with the highest number gains possession. Say you win, you have the ball. Now you all roll again. If you win you move further down field, if you lose you hand the ball to the other team. Say you win and now its your front line vs the enemy defensive line. Same rules as before, you win you move up, you lose you hand the ball over. You win you move up to the goalie. This is a one on one dice roll with your center vs the goalie. You win, GOOOOOOAAAAAAAL!, you lose it gets passed to the defensive line and you move back.
Theres a lot of possession changes going on. If you and your opponent alternate who wins then you never move down field. I've had a lot of games so far end up in a 0-0 tie because we just kept passing the ball back and forth and moving up and down the field, never getting to the goal. So...its like real soccer!
Players on differentiated by their dice. Its not a typical d6, for example one guy might have a die with 1,1,2,2,3,3 as its sides. Some players have special abilities that trigger when you roll certain numbers or totals. Some of these abilities let you re-roll a die, or double the number on a die, or shield a die to prevent your opponent from adding negative effects to it, etc.
There are 80 players to unlock, which you can do by meeting certain goals/achievements or flat out paying money for them (thats the in app purchase thing). Once unlocked you have to pay in-game gold to be able to hire them and make them available to your team.
The main complaint I have right now is its pretty slow to start. You dont get a lot of money per match unless you do well, but its hard to do well with a weak team. So you kinda have to grind out some achievements and money to unlock some better dudes. Also there are some extra animations and things that feel like they are slowing the whole game down. Luckily the developer has said they are going to speed those things up so it doesn't feel like such a slog.
But yeah, its pretty cool and free so check it out.
