PCG -> UbiSoft removes the constant need for Internet Connection requirement for U-Play DRM on both Assassin's Creed 2 PC and SC: Conviction PC.
Reddit -> Big discussion on the U-Play DRM change for AC2 and SC:C PC.

You will still need to sign-in for a online boot-check for when you can boot the game, but that's about it.

This is a good sign.
Okay...can we add Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands to the list now, please? :)

Yea they should have done that before the Steam sale, because it was the only reason I didn't go for some of their games.

I almost wonder if the Steam sales caused a sudden surge which their servers couldn't keep up with, and they were like... fuck it.

Great points, Pug - I didn't even think about that. There's no need for this constant Internet-connection DRM system for SP portions, anyways. They should have a working offline mode like Steam for games w/ SP portions, anyways - since you are forced to have a U-Play account, in the first place.

When buying the Steam version of any recent UbiSoft game (except RUSE), you got to deal w/ both Steam and U-Play. Steam is enuff DRM, as far as I'm concerned.

The other day, yeah - I had trouble for a few moments, trying to get POP: The Forgotten Sands going as it couldn't find its Net connection. So, I'm hoping this game gets it removed, too.

At least the bootup check is probably easier to crack. I still don't think I'll get AC2 PC yet.

Hmm.  I may lift my ban on buying this game for the Xbox.  The online boot check on PCs still bothers me, though.

heh, I might actually buy a new copy for PS3 instead of used now.

Maybe.

Did they release a version of AC2 that includes the two [short] DLC's on the consoles?

PC version comes w/ the two DLC, right in-the-box.

I dont know, but thats not enough to get me to buy a game with crappy DRM. I'd rather just buy the DLC on the console if I really want them.

Hey, that gives me an excuse to not pay a lot for the game in the first place! Yay!

If they haven't - they really should re-release the game w/ ALL DLC on disc for consolers.
Each DLC is only about an hour, anyways, BTW.

I'd bet PC gamers who bought the U-Play DRM games are probably using cracks, anyways...
