It's too bad they're pushing this fad so hard during an economic depression.  The expenditure required to join their 3D vision is exorbitant, since it means new cutting-edge hardware all around--the system, the glasses, the screen, and of course the new software.  It's easy for gaming publications to get excited.  Their writers didn't foot the bill for any of those new toys they're jizzing on.

And at the end of the day, I still see it as a fad, a niche market.  On the ther hand, the 3DS is portable, includes all needed hardware, requires no geeky headwear, and comes at a price many will pay.  It has a good chance to go mainstream.
