There's really no arguing this. Personally, I think Halo is one of the worst and most overrated FPS games to ever hit the market. Ever. And yes, I bought and played it shortly after it came out, so don't tell me it's because I came into it too late. I just honestly can't see any viable reason why people like the game. None. It's repetitive, languid, flat, artistically uninspired, and the tech really wasn't even very impressive by the time they finally released it. And the multiplayer sucks. So why does the world love it? I have no idea. But they do. It's made more money than its creators can count, people still salivate over it, and it's got a following far more dedicated than your average game series. Huge player base. Tremendous amount of support. Big-name movie production in the works.
Then again, *you* guys don't understand why so many of us love TES games (Daggerfall / Morrowind / Oblivion). They're hugely popular, they've made Bethesda one of the most storied developers in the country, they've put Bethesda on the map as one of the few developers really pushing true "next-gen" design philosophies, they have great fiction from a universal and individual standpoint, solid art design, more bang for your buck than pretty much anything else out there... and yet you don't like them. To most people, that probably makes you look stupid.
Conversely, our dislike of Halo probably makes us look stupid to most other people. It's a question of perspectives, and even though we can agree on plenty of other games, for some reason these games are points of contention. I couldn't tell you why, but I really don't see any point in arguing about it. In TES threads you guys make snide remarks about how boring TES games are, and in Halo threads we make comments about how repetitious and uninspired Halo is. This is just the happy order of things and there's really no need for intelligent discussion, because as has been proven, that gets us nowhere.
So let the trolling resume!
