I wonder how Gamefly is doing as a business. K-Man and I had a discussion on how expensive the gaming hobby is and how possibly having a gamefly account would be economically more sufficient.

I'd say GameFly got to be doing well, if they are going to buy-out D2D - who I thought were becoming one of the big players in the DD market...
Now, GameFly can put their foot into the digital PC market - which would be a brilliant move for them.

D2D is moving their files and stuff over to GameFly for the transition sometime in Jan 2012.
D2D users, go download ALL games and back them up [if you haven't already] so you lose NOTHING.

What do you need to do now?
Right now, it's business as usual; you can continue to pre-order and buy games as you do today. We'll keep you informed and send you more details when everything is ready to go. In the meantime, your Direct2Drive account will work as it does now, and we will fully support new releases as usual.

At the beginning of next year, we'll migrate Direct2Drive services to GameFly. We'll take care of everything for you - transferring your account and purchase history to GameFly so you can pick up right where you left off (you'll just need to reset your password for security). If you already have a GameFly account, we'll combine the two.

There are a couple things you can do now to ensure a smooth transition:

Download your favorite game purchases from Direct2Drive. We plan to have as many game files as possible available on GameFly. Just to be sure, please download your old game files before the transition.

Download all of your non-game files (like Prima Guides). These will not be supported by GameFly after the transition.

The transition's complete - all your D2D games should be over on GameFly now.
Basically, you take your D2D e-mail; ask to reset password; click on reset link from e-mail; and then create a new password.
Then, you can sign into GameFly and go from there.

There's a client and everything, which you'll need, if you're going to buy-to-download PC games from them.

ALSO - there's an extra 30% off coupon in your e-mail from GameFly, if you were once a D2D member.
That's good until 2/3/2012 (this upcoming Friday).

Might want to check your account. I've been seeing reports that Gamefly will still list all your games on your account, not all of them are available to download. I guess they have to renegotiate contracts with certain companies.

Thanks for noting this, Idol.
I downloaded all my D2D games before the transfer, just in case any crap like this might've happened...
