I'm stuck in this room some storeys up in a building. Every time I try the game again, I find myself in the same baffling place, wondering what to do. So I quit, and go do something else. I've lost familiarity with the game, so it's like a lost cause. I should start a new game just to get familiar with things again. Then maybe I can go back to my long-standing game save.
A funny thing happened. The free-with-Gold (Xbox 360) game until the end of August is
Dishonored. I already owned the game on disc, but I went ahead and grabbed the digital version, since it's free, and keeps me from having to insert a disc. That little advantage made all the difference. Since I don't have to be swapping discs daily, I got into the game again. That same old save works too, and I don't know why I was so stuck before, because I can blink out of it easy. Brain fart? Whatever. I ended up playing through the game twice, and damn, it's awesome. First time, I killed everything in sight, and got the bad ending. The 2nd time, still Normal difficulty, I went for no killing. While I didn't quite succeed, I got close enough for the good ending.
Achieving no deaths is harder than it seems. One mission I ended up with 5 hostiles and 1 civilian killed, when I thought I had 0 kills all around. I'm guessing that if the assassins I shot with sleep darts fell off the roof, they died, and those counted as kills. (Damn it, that's not my fault!) I'm also guessing that
although I tranqued Granny Rags after burning her cameo, the game still counted it as a kill? She was snoring! I even placed her gently on her bed before leaving
. Anyway, Just Dark Enough will have to do. Great experience, and I'm glad this freebie happened, or I would have missed out, since there's always a big game in that tray that I really don't like to be swapping out daily. (Right now it's
AC4: Black Flag.)
