Analogue: A Hate Story
« on: Monday, January 16, 2012, 09:15:28 PM »
Wee!

The name being a flip of Digital: A Love Story, which was a cool BBS-themed VN game. So while that was set in 1988, this new game is set in the far future about discovering a long lost space ship and figuring out what happened to everyone on board by reading the logs. It sounds pretty cool.

Digital was free, but Analogue is going to be $15. I'll post when a demo is available. Probably soon since it says a January release for the game.

I wanted to be snarky based on the almost graphics-less screens, and yet... somehow it looks kind of neat. Doubtful at $15, but I'm curious.

EDIT - Also, this was done by the same person? Because looking at the first game, the creator is a woman. Which strikes me as maybe being interesting for a VN.

Yeah, same person. She also made Don't Take it Personally, Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story which was another interesting VN. They aren't your typical dating sim type thing either (though I guess Dont Take It Personally has a little of that...sorta). They also have the benefit of being a little on the shorter side.

Its been released and there is a demo on the web site. Its interesting, still undecided. Theres a lot of going over log files and trying to piece together what was actually going on on the ship, which is hard to get into because you're just sort of thrown into the deep end of it. The demo is hard to get a feel for since it ends basically right after you solve the only puzzle up to that point without showing you the consequences. I suppose that was meant to push you to buy the game to find out what happens next, but you don't even really know what you did.

I'd be tempted to buy the full game on a sale, just because its kind of an interesting setup.
