NEOGEO X GOLD: The handheld and console in one!
« on: Tuesday, January 24, 2012, 11:53:36 PM »
TLDR: Its not just a handheld. $200 gets you the handheld, the docking/charging station that plugs into your TV to turn it into a console, and the arcade stick to play from your couch.

Infos

SNK PLAYMORE, today confirmed that the NEOGEO X GOLD entertainment system is scheduled for a worldwide release this December. Following the 20th anniversary of the ground breaking NEOGEO AES console, the NEOGEO X GOLD entertainment system provides players with all of the features of a home arcade and the convenience of a handheld gaming device. The NEOGEO X GOLD entertainment system is set for a worldwide release on December 6, 2012 for a suggested retail price of $199.99 (USD).

The NEOGEO X GOLD entertainment system comes complete with the NEOGEO X Station, the NEOGEO X Handheld with 20 pre-loaded NEOGEO classic titles, and the NEOGEO X Joystick. In addition to coming pre-loaded with 20 NEOGEO classic titles, the NEOGEO X Handheld device features a crisp 4.3" LCD display, an expandable game card slot, internal stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for a personal gaming experience you can take anywhere. The NEOGEO X Handheld device works with the NEOGEO X Joystick and NEOGEO X Station to charge the handheld device and transfer the action directly to a television set or monitor, via HDMI or A/V out, for a true arcade experience right at home.

Because I do!

The only way it could be better is if it ran Neo Geo Pocket games as well.

Very iPhoney.

I'd love one.. If only because I can't get a NeoGeo emulator on my PSP. In all fairness I do have the NeoGeo AllStars UMD though it lacks some noteworthy titles.

So awesome, I would love to have one if the price isn't absurd.

Damn man. I can't afford it at that pricetag, but that's really cool.

Yeah I do sorta hope they release a handheld-only version for cheaper. But maybe they are just aiming at collectors?

In either case, I don't think I'll buy one until we know whats up with getting more games on it. I wonder if it'll be as simple as dropping a formatted ROM onto the SD card (doubtful). And maybe someone will write a NEoGeo Pocket emulator for it...that would be cool.

Well it turns out they are releasing the handheld by itself for cheaper. It'll be $130.
