BEIJING, China (Reuters) -- A laid-off Chinese factory manager robbed, killed and dismembered seven dancing girls in his bathroom, state media reported on Wednesday.

Liu Xuexin, 56, former head of an elevator factory in the northeastern industrial city of Shenyang, killed the seven within 10 months starting in March last year, Xinhua news agency said.

Liu killed the girls in his bathroom, dismembered the bodies and threw body parts into wells and under bridges, it said. He stole their jewellery which he later sold.

But Liu was charged this week only with robbery, Xinhua said. It did not explain why he had not faced murder charges but said he had pleaded guilty to all charges and a date had yet to be set for sentencing.

The relatives of the victims had asked for total compensation of around 2 million yuan.
