This is why everyone should live in RVs. You can move, hassle free!

Same.  Well, only once.  You know, because twice makes zero sense.

Suck it, Pugnate.

Yeah, now add a baby and a wife who maybe gets two hours away from the baby a day. Most of that time is rightfully spent keeping herself sane.

Also that wife totally picked the pack rat perk when she got the chance.

Who the fuck has a shelf half full of ribbons from all the presents that she was given over the past 13 years?

I love moving. There's nothing lie getting rid of accumulated junk and getting a fresh start.

Yeah. We're still renting, but it's basically a two story house. With Mabel we were able to get into a nice low-income housing community.

So fuck yeah:
1) Washing machine
2) Something resembling a house for Mabel
3) Decent size kitchen
4) Neighbors all seem pretty nice and at least two have kids under or near 1 year old, so Mabel can have some buddies while we're here.

Yeah moving does suck.  Prior to our move to Florida, we had two garage sales.  The second one we sold crap we didn't sell in the first one for almost free.  I think the most expensive thing was a two-year-old Panasonic car stereo for $1.00.  Most things were $0.50, though we did have the various people that were like "Would you take $0.25 for it?"  Seriously?  You should ask yourself if you aren't willing to pay $0.50 for something but are willing to pay $0.25 if you really need or even want it.  Maybe it was the thrill of bargaining.  That must be it.

Even after that and giving most of our furniture away to friends and family for free (because it is cheaper to do that and buy new stuff than it is to move it all from Ohio to Florida, apparently), we still had tons of stuff to move and I think it cost us almost $4,000 just for the movers.  Then there was the whole packing and unpacking part.

It's one thing when you are younger and you are basically moving a bedroom around plus a few other non-bedroom items.  It's a whole other thing when you are moving a house.

Now picture moving a house to . . . a room.  All of the shit mentioned above, plus, well, not possible!  Storage is a bitch.  I ended up giving away a ton of furniture to charity.  I stored it for a couple of years before that, which was costing over $100 a month for the space.

I was having this conversation with a colleague earlier today as we talked about how moving changed from when we were in dorms to more or less houses. Even though she was living alone, she was totally aware of how much the pile had grown since the dorm days.

Going down to a room, now that's a bitch. I'm having a hard enough time because the rooms are slightly smaller here even though the total floor space is a fair bit larger.
