This is sort of a result of my work for the last eight to twelve months of work depending on how you look at this series of experiments. It's not a super important result relative to the goals of my current work but it's certainly the prettiest.
If you're curious, it's a CaCO3 crystal. Most people probably think of CaCO3 as calcite, but CaCO3 can have a few different mineral structures and I'm not exactly sure which this is. My work looks at when particular structures will grow in cases where crystals form slowly. This, for example, grew over the course of about a day.
