Yeah, I think that's the ticket - we should probably just discount everything that says Darth Vader is actually a total pussy.

Starwars is pretty much the last thing I'll ever care about, but I find this kind of interesting.  I guess there's so much lore, etc out there that they have to make this announcement in order to make way for the new movies.  I'm guessing the task of coming up with a new plot line that didn't contradict something someone else has done would have been ridiculously daunting.

Honestly though, it may be because I don't get super into things like this, but I think people lose their shit over things being "canon" way too much. Whatever pop culture fandom you're talking about, the cultural significance is probably minor enough that it really doesn't matter.  Make your own Starwars universe up in your head that includes your favorite book. Who gives a fuck?

I am totally fine with this. It is understandable they want to work with a clean slate.

As for the last trilogy, I realize the new movies weren't so amazing, but they were good entertainment I found.

Yea I hear you Pugnate, they can still be entertaining. I've actually been wanting to watch all of them again, and I still think Episode 3 is pretty decent. Episode 1 & 2 also have their good moments, you just have to ignore some rough spots.

I liked Shadows of the Empire.
That game was awesome. Dash was a good character.

I love the Kyle Katarn saga (Jedi Knight series). The games were great and that story arc hooked me. Plus there were space ninjas. They called them "Shadow Troopers" but we all know they're space ninjas.

Yeah Jedi Knight series was great. Other than that, can't say it matters.

I should have clarified.  The Shadows of the Empire game was alright, but it was the novel that I really liked.

I agree, the Jedi Knight games were also pretty good.
