Is Wolfenstein: New Order any good?  It's surprisingly the only thing on there I don't already have that looks interesting to me.  Well, Far Cry 4 by itself at a low price would be a no-brainer.  I'm not doing pairings like that unless the discount gets a lot better.

Wolfenstein follows the Half-Life formula of being linear, but having a certain amount of exploration and side-paths, and some open spaces to look around in a bit. the gunplay is excelent, and the story and characters are surprisingly not trash. I thought they were pretty good, but I've heard some people say they cringed at them. Regardless of story related opinions, it's pretty solid in the gameplay department.

Honestly I think the Ubisoft deals are a desperate way for them to try to sell more copies of The Crew. Notice there's no ACU+FC4 bundle? Yea, those will sell fine on their own.

I'm struggling to decide if I want to buy Lords of the Fallen, or a few cheaper games. I have just enough for LotF and nothing else. Outlast for $8 is a great deal though, and who knows what else might pop up.

Oh, how could I have missed LotF?  Yeah, that interests me too.  But I'm basically full-up now on the kind of games that would make playing something like that difficult.  It's already hilariously bad for me to switch back and forth between ACU and Shadow of Mordor.  The gameplay is nearly the same, but the controls too different.  I end up playing the wrong way when things get dicey, and I get slaughtered in Mordor.  (Death in Mordor is an enduringly bad thing.)  So I've put it on the back burner until I'm completely done with ACU.

I'm really full-up, period.  I just got Forza Horizon 2 in the mail yesterday from Amazon.  They had this good deal I couldn't pass up.  So now I have every game that made me want this system, plus Mordor.  I hate to miss out on the deals, but I have a feeling there will be even better ones coming up next year.

Wolfenstein, though, if it's good, would be the first shooter I get for the system.  You're making it hard for me not to splurge some more.

Yeah, I have no interest in The Crew.  I wanted FH2; now I have it, and there's no need for an inferior open-world racer.  I like the notion of a TDU spiritual successor, though.  Future bargains are always a possibility.

It's been a long time since I've seen that kind of twofer (TC/FC4), and I hope it isn't a new fixture.  I hate the piggybacking to squeeze more money.  Give me a good deal on FC4 alone.  I can wait for it.

Wolfenstein is indeed quite good. You don't necessarily expect much out of it, so it ends up surprising you by being a much more robust game than you'd think it would be. And the story stuff isn't bad at all. Feels very much like a gratuitous but fun Tarantino revisionist history ala Inglorious Basterds. I picked it up on PS4 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Meh.  SR4 was a free game earlier in they year (and I grabbed it then).  Metro: Last Light was around that price recently.  I got it then, and didn't like it very much.  So I don't care about Redux.  Too bad, because that's actually 2 games, right?  Great deal.

Yea the Metro Redux bundle is Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. Normal price is $25 each or $50 for both together. I think it was during the Black Friday deals, but they were on sale recently for like 50% off and you could get them individually if you wanted. This time it's just the bundle for Xbox One, or just the second game for 360.

I highly recommend Guacamelee STCE.  Awesome 2D platformer/brawler with some serious challenges for 100% completion.  Can't beat it at that price.

Daily deals for Dec 22:
Trials Fusion - Deluxe Edition -- Xbox One -- 50% ($20.00)
Slender: The Arrival -- Xbox 360 -- 67% ($4.99)
Trials Fusion -- Xbox 360 -- 50% ($4.99)
Trials Fusion Season Pass -- Xbox 360 -- 50% ($9.99)

You can't get the discount on Xbox One Trials without the season pass, which sucks. Trials is a game I would buy, mess around with a bit, but never finish all levels. I don't need the season pass, and doubling the price to force its inclusion just means I won't buy it.

I caved on Wolfenstein.  Wow, this system really can do perfectly locked 60 fps in 3D.  I was starting to wonder.  It's so smooth it gives me vertigo (not too bad, though).  I hated the opening, being thrown into the deep end right from the intro.  I must have died half a dozen times trying to jump from one plane to another.  Oh, sprint-jump.  Why the hell didn't you make that clear?  But after that, things got awesome, even a bit nostalgic.  I started humming the classic theme song at one point.

Dum, dum, duuuuuuum!
Dum, dum, duuuuuuum!

:)

Edit: SSX (360) is FREE for Gold users for the rest of the month.  The game is pretty good, if you can get into the extreme snowboarding thing.

Another daily that I don't see listed anywhere, but Major Nelson tweeted about it:

Child of Light -- Xbox One -- 50% ($7.50)
Child of Light -- Xbox 360 -- 50% ($7.49)

I couldn't fit these on my HD anyways...

I've got 17.2 GB free on my Xbox One HDD, with numerous games not installed: Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Outlast, Ryse, Titanfall, Tomb Raider, Wolfenstein, Zoo Tycoon, and a bunch of smaller stuff. I asked for an external HDD for Christmas. It's not even about trying to keep all my games installed, but I jump around from game to game a lot, and can't keep all the ones I'm playing installed.

Pretty much a necessity.  The drive would have to be about 2 terabytes to hold as many games as the 250GB X360 one.  Yet it's only twice as big at 500 GB, of which you only get to use less than 400.

I'm not sure if you specified which you wanted, and it's probably too late to change now.  But I would get a USB-powered 7200-rpm drive.  An SSD won't buy you anything but bigger bills, according to what I've read.  Having it powered through USB means the system can shut it down when it shuts down.  Plus less cords behind the console (and in my case, not having to figure out how to reach the UPS with yet another cord).

Mine is down to a third of the game space, about 120 GB.  So I'll be looking into an external in not too long myself.

I specified a WD Mybook 1TB or 2TB, but I think I made it clear that anything USB powered was fine (USB powered for convenience mostly). I read somewhere that the difference between 5400rpb and 7200rpc was negligible as well (the internall HDD in the Xbox One is a 5400 btw). My brother recently bought a 2TB... something for his WiiU, and I told him how the Xbox One is way less specific about what will work with it. If someone got me a drive, it was either him, or someone that would have consulted him lol.

Beware of some of those MyBooks.  WD for some reason decided they didn't want people pulling the drives out of their enclosures, so they came up with this lame encryption on a chip on the enclosure's PCB.  I've sworn off WD's externals as a result.  If it needs a special driver for Windows like SES, return it.  I hope they've moved past this stupid phase.

EM: Unfortunately, the drive is probably encrypted even if you didn’t set a password. You can attach it to a computer to confirm, but all of the newer Western Digital enclosures appear to encrypt the drives automatically with an internal chip. You will most likely need to put the drive into an identical Western Digital enclosure to recover the data.

I ended up getting a 1TB Seagate Expansion from my brother. Now to redownload all the games I've had to delete to make room. It'll take a while on my connection, but at least I don't have a bandwidth cap.

Lame, lame.  Either I have it or I don't want it.  I want to see AC Rogue and Borderlands Presequel get deep discounts.  They're still being sold for full price.  I got a $50 gift card for Amazon, so that's where I'll end up buying my next game--but not for full price.

Shadow of Mordor season pass

And Shovel Knight on the Steam sale

That's it for the deals. A bunch of the weekly deals were extended to January 6 though. Here's the list: http://majornelson.com/2014/12/31/ringing-new-year-deals/?linkId=11455415

I think if I had been less dedicated to the good games on these platforms, I would have thought it was a good set of sales.  But nearly everything either was unwanted, or I already had it.  Far cry from last year's sales.

Thanks for spending the time posting them, man.  Much appreciated.
